A Year in Pop – 1969

Bento Bye Bye
I have been doing my lists of the best years in pop music in my head for years- and, considering what I should use as my criteria for these lists have been swirling around in there for some time, as well.

Alas, it’s time to empty my mind. I want to share what I have come up with, with you.

In unfairness to music lovers of all ages, eras, trends, forms, and styles, I have decided to stick to what got me to where I am today.

The music that I was moved by in any given year, for example; my childhood, my teenage years , my young adult age, and so on; the eras of my life’s journey, my losses, my wins, the loves, the highs and lows, my hopes, fears and frustrations, the varying circumstances and moods. That’s where my top 49 of 1969 is coming from.

I agree we all have different tastes, influences, interpretations and memories, and are moved by different drummers. We may change our tastes over time, but
maybe in some cases we might find common ground.

Here’s to hoping for finding the common ground! I really hope it’s there.

-with a little further adieu-

It was a golden age for pop music and it’s tough to match this year with any other, and equally tough to choose only 49 songs.

Oh, by the way, you are in safe hands, I’m an expert. No seatbelts required. Feel free to put the songs back in your head, as you remember them, as you read the list.

As a bonus to Subscribers

I will add the lyrics of the top ten songs along with personal thoughts and memories of those ten, and why they ranked so well for me. Thank you.
