Physical things

give me energy!

Think exercise, like dancing or bicycling.

or playing soccer.

Energy!

At the start of the day,

my mind and body

appreciate these

movements…

up and down

like a steam

train engine;

arms and

elbows

one two three

one two three

feeling the locomotion

as my energy level rises,

actively engaged in

in out in out in

simple push-ups.

First ten of them

slowly.

I want to try harder.

The next ten will make it

twenty and then,

I feel the

energy rising and

as my breathing gets

deeper and deeper,

I don’t stop now.

I’m going for 48, 49, 50.

then it seems that’ll be

enough.

But wait,

I think

I can do more.

I feel something.

Do I want to do

more?

Maybe 50 more

to make it

an

even hundred?

It feels good for

some reason.

She says, “yes,

do a hundred more,

it gives me energy

too,” she whispers,

underneath me.

I feel strong enough

to do more,

two or

three hundred,

don’t stop

I say to myself.

Anyways

I stop counting,

Physical things .

Tomorrow,

I’ll try swimming

or

hiking up a mountain

or

climbing trees.

It’s nice up here!
